My Mother She Killed Me, My Father He Ate Me (Penguin) is a new book featuring forty new fairy tales (inspired by a wide array of classic fairy tales like “The Snow Queen,” “The Little Match Girl,” “Hansel & Gretel,” and more) from some pretty impressive literary names.
Contributors include Neil Gaiman, Joyce Carol Oates, Aimee Bender, Neil LaBute, Michael Cunningham, Kelly Link, Lydia Millet, and many more. The book, edited by Kate Bernheimer, features a foreword from famed Wicked author Gregory Maguire.
Maguire will be hosting a reading from My Mother She Killed Me, My Father He Ate Me at Symphony Space in New York City on Wednesday, October 27th. The reading/staging of these stories features a phenomenal cast led by Lili Taylor (Six Feet Under) and Christine Ebersole (Grey Gardens). It should be an amazing night of storytelling; tickets are currently available at (212) 854-5400 or on the web, and the wonderful folks at Symphony Space have given us two sets of tickets (2 tickets per set) to give away!
